Jim Caffrey Pullman resident since Dec 2006 My love for photography began in 1970 while in High School. I enrolled in a double major, Graphic Arts & Photography in my Junior & Senior year at Woodbridge Senior High School in the historic town of Woodbridge New Jersey. It all started with black & white photography were I learned to process my own work in the darkroom. I grew up in Menlo Park Terrace New Jersey, part of Woodbridge Township that was incorporated in 1664. I would take trips to the countryside of nearby Pennsylvania to photograph nature and historic architecture along the Delaware River. My interest in the city of Chicago began in 1984 when I visited my sister Ellen who had moved from California to Irving Park. I was totally amazed by the architecture of Chicago and the beauty of the lake front. I would visit my sister every year for summer vacations and would eventually plan to move to this great city along Lake Michigan. I made my move in 2006, however I was looking to live in the Roger's Park, Edgewater area close to the lake. In April of 2006 I came to Chicago to secure housing. My sister wanted to move out of Marquette Park and a friend of hers who worked for NHS advised her to look at Pullman. Together my sister & I with a local realtor looked at homes in Pullman. I knew about the Pullman Company as I was a History major but had no idea that the town itself survived. As we toured the town of Pullman we were greeted by many friendly people and a little voice told me that this is were I wanted to live. I moved into a worker's cottage on Champlain and with camera in hand I began photographing Historic Pullman. My home was featured in the 2007 Pullman House Tour. I quickly became a volunteer with the Pullman Civic Organization, The Pullman State Historic site, the Historic Pullman Foundation, the Bronzeville Black Chicagoan Historical Society and the Pullman Youth Group. I conducted walking tours with the Historic Pullman Foundation & served as a docent at the Hotel Florence and the Historic Pullman Visitors Center.
